Tempo and Clock

The Drums streams run against a tempo. Where it comes from:

• On its own, MIDIpad uses the Tempo control in the control bar (120 bpm by default). Set it to match your project and play.
• With a DAW clock, MIDIpad follows. Send MIDI clock from your DAW to the MIDIpad in port and the streams lock to it: the Tempo control shows the arriving tempo and says it's following. Stop sending clock and it goes back to your own setting, which was kept the whole time.

An incoming clock is smoothed before the streams use it, so ordinary jitter in a DAW's clock output doesn't reach the beat. Tempos between 20 and 300 bpm are followed; anything outside that is ignored rather than chased.

MIDIpad is never a clock master. It doesn't send clock or transport, so following your DAW is how you record Drums in time with a project. Enabling clock output to a port is a per-DAW setting, covered in Set up your DAW.

Chords doesn't use the clock. Its timing comes entirely from your hands.
