Welcome

A game controller, turned into an instrument

MIDIpad turns a game controller into a musical instrument. It plays its own sound, and it sends MIDI at the same time. Neither waits for the other. You can play it on its own with headphones on, route it into a DAW and drive whatever you like, or do both at once.

On your system it appears as two MIDI inputs, MIDIpad Chords and MIDIpad Drums, plus MIDIpad in, where a DAW can send its clock.

There are two instruments. Chords is strummed: chords under one thumb, strings under the other. Drums is streamed: the two sticks drive the groove and the buttons land single hits. One instrument is on stage at a time.

The manual

If MIDIpad isn't on your machine yet, start with Installation - it's a drag, a drop, and a launch.
