App Settings
You know what settings are, I don't have to tell you
MIDIpad keeps settings in two places, split by what they act on.
- Instrument settings change how an instrument plays. They live in the panel behind the gear on the stage, and they're documented with the instruments: Instrument settings for Chords, Kits and voice mapping for Drums.
- App settings cover the app itself - this page. Press ⌘,, or click the logo in the title bar, to open a dialog with three panes.
Changes apply as you make them. There's no save step, and everything is remembered between launches. "Licensed" settings sit at their defaults in Demo Mode; see Demo vs licensed.
Two controls are in neither place. The Key and the Tempo live in the control bar, because they are things you change while playing rather than things you set up.
Audio & MIDI
Audio is MIDIpad's own sound:

Routing the internal sound is what lets you send it to an interface, or into a loopback device to record MIDIpad's own voice into your DAW. Demo Mode plays through the system default.
MIDI is the wire out:

The two MIDIpad Chords and MIDIpad Drums ports are always open and need nothing configured, so no row reports them. On Windows there are no virtual ports, and an extra Output device row appears here to pick the hardware port both instruments play through.
Expression is where the instrument's two named signals land in MIDI. The signals themselves are taught in the Chords chapter; what these rows choose is the wire:

The defaults are exactly what MIDIpad has always sent; the rows exist because MPE hardware disagrees about dialects. Match them to what your synth expects and MIDIpad speaks it natively - see MIDI and MPE for the whole story, including why the rows only matter on the per-string output.
