Stuck notes

Long ringing is usually the instrument

Long ringing is usually the instrument, not a fault. Chords' strings fade naturally, and hard-played low notes fade slowly - more so with the Ring setting up, or with a synth patch that has its own long release.

Test it first: pull L2 all the way in. If the squeeze silences the note, nothing was stuck. (With Squeeze direction set to Sustain the trigger works the other way - release it fully instead.)

The panic

Instrument → All Notes Off (⌘.) releases everything MIDIpad has sounding and sends All Notes Off on every channel it has touched, on both ports - a MIDI panic for everything downstream. It silences MIDIpad's own voice at the same time, so one keystroke covers both ends.

In single-channel mode the panic is passed on whole rather than collapsed, so a demo build can't leave a folded output ringing.

Genuinely stuck notes

MIDIpad is built not to strand a note. Every note-off matches its note-on exactly, ring-outs complete even if the controller disconnects mid-chord, and on quit or any output change the app releases everything it sent and then sends All Notes Off regardless.

If a note does hang in your DAW:

  1. Use the DAW's panic, or MIDIpad's, above. Most DAWs have a MIDI-panic button or menu item that sends All Notes Off to their instruments.
  2. Check the synth's own holds. A sustain-pedal CC from another device, a held arpeggiator or latch mode, or a long effects tail can all present as a stuck note.
  3. Report it. If you can reproduce a hang that traces back to MIDIpad, use Help → Send Feedback… and say what you were playing. Reproduction steps are what make it fixable.
