No sound from MIDIpad
When the app itself is silent
MIDIpad plays its own sound, so it should make noise with nothing else set up. If it doesn't, this page is the shorter half of the problem - no DAW involved.
If MIDIpad is audible and your DAW isn't, go to No sound in your DAW instead.
Working down the chain
- Is the instrument reacting at all? Play, and watch the stage. If the chord wheel or the dial doesn't move, the problem is the controller, not the sound - see Controller not detected.
- Is the picker set to MIDI Only? Look at the control bar. If the Voice picker (Chords) or the Drums kit picker says MIDI Only, MIDIpad is deliberately silent. Choose a voice or a kit. The giveaway is that the Volume control is missing from the bar - it hides when there's nothing to be loud.
- Is the Volume down? It sits at the right-hand end of the control bar. Point at it and it shows a number from 0 to 100.
- Is your computer's output right? By default MIDIpad plays through your system's default output device. Check the system volume and the selected output, especially if you've plugged or unplugged headphones since launching. With a licence you can point MIDIpad's own sound at a specific output in Settings → Audio & MIDI; if you have, check it's still there.
- Are you on the instrument you think you are? Chords and Drums are never audible at the same time. If Drums is on stage, strumming does nothing.
Silent pads in Drums
If most of the kit sounds but one control doesn't:
- It may be set to None. In the Kit panel, a control set to None sends nothing and plays nothing.
- Something may be silencing it. A held pad can mute a machine line. The open hat silences the timekeeper by default.
Quiet strings in Chords
Notes get louder the faster you move. A slow drag across the touchpad is genuinely quiet - that's the instrument working. Flick hard as a test.
If everything is uniformly weak, check Dynamics in the Instrument Settings panel; a negative value compresses the range so every pluck speaks, positive widens it so soft gestures fall further.
Still nothing
